Issue Mailing Public Folders after Migrating to Exchange 2010

Recently we had an issue after migrating to Exchange 2010, all mail enabled public folders were unable to receive mail and users sending mail to the public folder received the following NDR.

#554 5.2.0 STOREDRV.Deliver.Exception:ObjectNotFoundException; Failed to process message due to a permanent exception with message The Active Directory user wasn’t found. ObjectNotFoundException: The Active Directory user wasn’t found. ##

Even when we created a brand new mail enabled public folder the issue still occurred.

To resolve this we had to do the following

  1. Open ADSI Edit
  2. Browse to CN=Configuration , CN=Services, CN=Microsoft Exchange, CN=YourExchangeOrganizationName, CN=Administrative Groups, CN=YourLegacyAdminGroupName
  3. Once you expand “CN=YourLegacyAdminGroupName” you should see a container named “CN=Servers.”
  4. Delete “CN=Servers”
  5. Wait for AD Replication to complete

Public folders should now start to receive mail Smile
